Wondering how big a 1-carat Princess Cut Diamond is or how much a 5mm Princess Cut Diamond weighs?
Then you have come to the right page as I have created a full chart and built a really easy-to-use calculator to help you get an idea of how much your Diamond weighs.
Quick Note: These are estimated weights only, the actual weight of your Diamond may be different depending on the proportions of the stone.
Princess Cut Diamond Weight Calculator
Princess Cut Diamonds aren’t always perfectly square, so I created a calculator to help you estimate the weight of your stone.
All you need is the length and width of the stone, the calculator estimates the depth based on a depth percentage of 70% but if you have the measurement for the depth, you can enter it in yourself.
Princess Cut Size to Carat Chart
1/4 Carat = 3.5-3.6mm
1/2 Carat = 4.4-4.5mm
1 Carat = 5.5-5.6mm
2 Carat = 7-7.1mm
3 Carat = 8-8.1mm
Images are for illustration purposes only as it is very difficult to accurately represent image sizes on screens.
I hope these charts are helpful but I do have to state that these should be used as guides only as the actual weight of your Princess Cut Diamond may be more or less than the weight listed above.
This is because every Diamond has its own unique proportions that impact the weight of the Diamond, with things like:
- Girdle thickness
- Crown angle
- Pavilion angle
All having an impact on the weight of the Diamond and this is what makes doing weight estimation difficult, especially as unlike Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds, Princess Cut Diamonds don’t have globally recognized ‘ideal’ proportions.
This is why you won’t get a cut grade for a Princess Cut Diamond from reputable gem labs such as the GIA.
But the charts and calculator should help to give you an idea as to what the weight of your Diamond might be and if you want to do this for other styles of cut, you can use my Diamond weight estimation calculator or any of the other size-to-weight charts that are listed below:
